Dietrich Lasa
Dietrich was brought up in Germany and was introduced to string instruments at an early age. His second teacher, a then 75 year old lady, was a direct student of Carl Flesch. She shared with him that Flesch insisted in knowing every assigned piece by heart before his students would come to the lesson. THEN he would start with his constructive criticism.
Dietrich's first tertiary teacher was a student of David Oistrach. Later Dietrich moved to the North-West German Academy of Music in Detmold where he studied with Likas David and Tibor Varga whose Chamber Orcheastra he joined, touring European countries. Dietrich became a member of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra under Karl Munchinger, touring the globe in the early Eighties.
Dietrich immigrated to Australia in 1985 when he joined the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. He also taught Viola at the Conservastorium of Music in Brisbane. He was founder leader of the Lyrebird Ensemble that toured Queensland in the early 90's. Amongst other things, he performed the Sinfonia Concertante by Mozart with this ensemble, playing the viola part, with Warwick Adeney on the violinn.
